What is a Podcast Guest: My First Experience

In the last year or so, podcasts have really taken off and many entrepreneurs, millennials, and current and future business owners all have incorporated a podcast as one of their income streams. I subscribe to so many podcast and it is my go to guide for new ideas, motivation, encouragement, and financial advice. Many podcast I listen to have podcast guest who shares their expertise in the topic of discussion. Podcast guest also have the opportunity to promote their products and services as well. I never thought in a million years that I would be a podcast guest. Or at least not right now but the opportunity came sooner than I thought.

Opportunity Knocks

As many of you know, I am a seller on Poshmark and have followed a few Poshmark Facebook groups to get more tips and to connect with other Poshers. I joined the Poshmark Sellers group and have met the amazing Ashlyn Tengan of Smarter Moms Online who is the owner of that Facebook group. She made an announcement that she was starting a podcast and that she wanted to feature a few Poshmark sellers, have them ask her questions, share their success, and they could shout out their Poshmark closet to get more exposure. I was super excited when I saw this and was ready to jump right on it, but nervousness, lack of confidence because I wasn’t making tons of sales as other Poshers, and just plain old fear of doing something out of my comfort zone stepped in.

So taking that advice, I filled out the form Ashlyn provided and finally hit SUBMIT…that is after the cursor blinked about 50 or so times. I received a response in a few days with the confirmation date for the recording so I had a few weeks to prepare myself. During this time, I looked over her website and social media pages just to do some research and try to prepare myself for the recording. After days of doing this, I decided to just be myself and be transparent on my journey with Poshmark even though I am not one of the sellers who sales over 20 items a day.

Podcast Recording Day

Dun Dun Dunnnnn…is what was going through my head when I realized that it was almost time for the recording. When it was time, I picked up my phone and dialed in and even though I was nervous, the sweetest and most down to Earth person was on the other end of the line. Ashlyn made me feel so comfortable and the nervousness disappeared. I was able to share my Poshmark story, brief family history, my future goals, my blog, and a few tips on how to increase sales on Poshmark. I asked her questions about growing Facebook groups, her goals, and other Poshmark questions that helped me out a lot. I have even implemented a few ideas she has shared and have noticed a growth of my social media pages as well as my Poshmark sales.

It was truly a great experience and now that I look back on things, I am glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone. Not only did I learn a few more tips on growing my Poshmark closet and social media, but I have also gained some new followers to my blog. That alone was amazing! If there is an opportunity that comes knocking at your door, don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone because you will never know what it can produce in the future. Make sure you keep me posted if you did take that leap of faith and let me know how things went.
